Norway’s New Pixel Art Money

By | October 16, 2014

Money is something we all handle on a daily basis, either through spending or receiving it. Most banknotes have intricate details, while some have intricate designs. Norway’s new currency notes feature pixellated artwork consisting of traditional Norwegian imagery.

Designed by Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta and Oslo-based graphic design firm The Metric System, the currency notes’ designs become more abstract as the value of the notes goes higher.

The new currency will go on circulation in 2017.
