Polo mint concept design and re-branding

By | September 18, 2014

Polo mint concept design was done by two students from varying disciplines. The project brought together innovation from two different viewpoints.

The Concept: The leading mint manufacturing company Polo has needed fresh packaging. Despite being a leading mint candy company, they lacked the premier packaging of the rivals. Recently competing brands also attacked their tagline: the mint with a hole. However graphic design student Vishwajeet Sawant and product designer Ajinkya Barve (both from Pune, India) leveraged that very tagline.

Package Design: The idea was to eliminate the flaws of the existing package, which needed consumers to tear away the package to grab the next mint. It did not let the consumer know about the count of mints left. The packaging needed to reflect their identity tagline “the mint with a hole”

The new, innovative design lets users see all the mints through the transparent plastic body. The round container looks cool, feels modern and leverages the ‘mint with a hole’ design perfectly. Polo mint concept design and re-branding allowed the students to understand the value of brand image.
