Bang Innovative Condom Package Design tries to leverage the concept of sexual intercourse being a typical confidence booster for men. It is more than just an act, it is more like going to war with a set of bullets and proving your worth at the most intimate battlefield with your ego and your partner being the judge of it.
Designed on those lines, the condom brand name ‘Bang’ and the packaging tries to use clever wordplay for both urban slang used for ‘sex’ as well as the act of shooting, another innuendo for the act itself. The package uses visual associations which look like bullets to give the impression of bullet cartridges as well the color is a very noticeable bright purple and yellow on black package background.
There are distinct visual associations for each color for the flavored or ridged categories of the product. However, what doesn’t quite work is the regressive and pretty obvious reference to how men view their sexual activity and the image of the act itself in minds of consumers. Effectively, it markets the condoms purely as a men’s product quite ignoring in fact that the comfort and funquotient of women must be equally relevant. Pairing up with Deus Ex Machina the design firm Wunderbar some work to do on that front.
