Innovative elastic band package design as part of a stdent project by Ric Bixter brilliantly communicates the product by leveraging its distinctive properties in an exciting packaging concept.
The brief of the student task was to visit a pound shop and pick out a product which is dull, mundane office stationery and completely re-think the package. Bixter picks the elastic band, a quintessential necessary office supply and uses the product itself to convey the best of its properties.
In a clever, simple use of the product in the middle of the packing box itself, it conveys the properties highlighted in best possible way. The strength is conveyed in how well it squeezes the box, the tensile and stretchy properties in how they wrap around. Besides, you can touch, test and see the myriad colors in which the product is available, without really having to open the box. Smart!
To add to the visibly intelligent package, are the big, colorful, bold type fonts conveying the properties in words, including the strength of different varieties of the elastic bands.
