Sugar Island Rum classic package design, by creative agency Swig Studio blends classic illustration and history with modern minimalism.
History has it, that His Majesty’s Service at Sea in 1731 passed a decree to provide daily ration of rum to British sailors. It his perhaps no coincidence, that around the same time reported sightings of mermaids rose significantly around Caribbean Sea. Several prominent ships were lost forever in the treacherous currents of Bermuda and Caribbean isles, chasing the mermaids. Mythical allure of islands, gold and many such fantastic stories have attracted sailors. Mermaids remain sought after as a theme.
Swig creates the brand identity and package design which harks back to those colonial times. A dash of history to merge seamlessly with minimal background shades. The color of background – white (coconut rum) and amber-yellow (caramel, natural spices) create a distinct visual identity.
